Should cabinets go in before or after flooring?
In most of our installs, flooring goes first (under the cabinets). It costs slightly more in material but protects you if you ever change cabinet footprints — and it’s required for floating floors to expand properly.
Can you match my existing cabinets for a partial update?
Sometimes. Stained finishes older than a few years have aged in ways new finishes can’t perfectly match. We’ll assess in person and tell you whether matching or contrasting is the smarter call.
How to Read a Cabinet Quote Before You Sign It
Two cabinet quotes for ‘the same kitchen’ can differ by $6,000 while looking identical on the showroom floor. The differences hide in the specification lines. Box construction first: plywood sides and backs hold screws, shrug off dishwasher steam, and survive a supply-line leak that would swell particleboard into oatmeal. If a quote doesn’t state box material, ask — silence usually means particleboard.
Second, look at how drawers are built. The line item is small; the daily difference is not. Soft-close should be standard hardware at this point, not an upsell.
